Get a quiz and its answer key

Open the quiz export
Drop a course .imscc or a quiz .zip from Canvas (Settings › Export Course Content). The first quiz opens with answers showing.

Pick the copy you want
Answer key is preselected. Choose Both for a student copy followed by the key on a new page, or Student copy for a clean test.

Download Word or print to PDF
Word (.docx) gives you an editable file. Print / PDF opens a print-ready view you can save as PDF.
What the answer key includes
Multiple choice, true/false and multiple answers questions have the correct choices marked. Short answer questions list every accepted answer. Numerical questions show the exact answer with its margin or range. Matching questions show the correct pair for each prompt, and dropdown and fill-in-the-blank questions list the answers for each blank.
Points for each question and the quiz total are shown, along with the feedback you wrote in Canvas (general, correct and incorrect) when the export contains it. Essay questions get space to write in the student copy.
Questions
Can I keep the student copy and key in one document?
Yes. Choose Both. The key starts on a new page, so you can print the test and keep the key separate.
Will students see the answers if I print the student copy?
No. The student copy has no correct-answer marks, accepted answers or feedback, only the questions, choices and space to answer.
What about questions drawn from a question bank?
Questions written in the quiz are included. If a quiz pulls questions at random from a question bank, those may not appear, because they live in the bank rather than the quiz.
Can I make different versions with shuffled questions?
Not yet. The export follows the order in Canvas. You can reorder questions in Word afterwards.
Does it cost anything?
Exporting a quiz and its answer key is free. Free exports have a one-line “Made with OpenIMSCC” footer.
