Make a PDF from an .imscc export

  1. 1

    Open the export

Drop your .imscc (or a Canvas quiz .zip) on the box above. It’s read in your browser and never uploaded.

  2. 2

    Pick a page or quiz

Choose it in the sidebar. For quizzes, choose student copy, answer key, or both (the key starts on a new page).

  3. 3

Click Print / PDF, then Save as PDF

A print-ready view opens. In the print dialog choose Save as PDF (or Microsoft Print to PDF) as the printer, and turn off Headers and footers for a cleaner page.

Why print to PDF instead of a download button

Your browser’s own PDF printer keeps text selectable and searchable, embeds the images, and runs entirely on your computer. That means the course never has to be uploaded to a conversion server.

The print view hides the viewer, numbers the questions, keeps each question together on a page where it can, and adds name and date lines to student copies.

Questions

Can I turn the whole course into one PDF?

Not in one step. PDFs are made one page or quiz at a time, which keeps each file focused and the print layout right.

Can I get every item at once instead?

Yes, as Word files: the Course pass adds “Export whole course”, a ZIP with every page as Word and every quiz as a student copy and an answer key. You can save those as PDF from Word or Google Docs.

Will images show up in the PDF?

Yes. Images stored in the export are resolved and shown in place. Images that were hosted on another website need an internet connection while you print.

How do I get rid of the URL and date at the top and bottom of the page?

Those come from the browser. In the print dialog, open More settings and untick Headers and footers.

Can I print the student copy and the answer key together?

Yes. Choose Both. The student copy comes first and the key starts on a new page, so you can print once and separate them.

Is my course uploaded to make the PDF?

No. The file is read and laid out in your browser tab, and your browser makes the PDF. We never receive the file or its contents.
